i have pooped sadder songs than 4/5ths of these.  Guardian, you suck.  Including "Brick" makes this list suck even more.  I think you for posting it, so as to expose the suck.

Suggestions to remove some suckage:

"Angie" - Rolling Stones
"Eyepennies" - Sparklehorse
"Cure for Pain" - Morphine
"Every Little Bit Hurts" - The Clash (pretty sure it's a cover though)
"Waltz #2" - Elliott Smith (although picking just one of his cheery tunes is difficult...)
"Nowhere Man" - Beatles (this list includes NO beatles songs?  authors of Eleanor Rigby, etc?  And from the Britpress???)
"Lost Cause" - Beck
"Get Me Away from Here, I'm Dying" - Belle + Sebastien
"Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me" - The Smiths (again...they were talking about _sad_ songs, right?)
"The One I Love" - REM"

and also, the Bananas song.  I don't know who sings it, but if you've heard it, you know what i'm talking about.

okay, i could go on and on.  i like sad songs  a lot.
